Viking shoes from Haithabu
These shoes are very authentic reconstructions after finds from the Viking town Haithabu (near Schleswig). They are dated around 900-1150, a high cut with laceration around the foot both above and below the ankle.
The shoes have the raised sole at the heel, which is usual for northern European shoes of the early Middle Ages.
Please note, however, that the robustness of these reversible sewn shoes corresponds to that of
modern demands! They are quite sensitive to asphalt,
Concrete blocks and gravel. These floor coverings did not exist in the Middle Ages !
Therefore we recommend to wear Trippen and inlays if necessary.
