Vikingdress Solveig for children, red / wine red
The loosely cut dress is made of strong cotton canvas and comes with a fabric belt. Colour contrasting details make this dress something special.
The slit neckline is worn openly or closed with a fibula. Front and back are made of rectangular fabric panels, in the middle and on the sides there are so-called Geren (wedges), which give the hem enough width. A gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted under the arm. The firm canvas fabric (canvas) makes the dress robust and heavy and is therefore suitable for spring and autumn.
The cut of the dress is based on archaeological finds dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. Typical for this period are long dresses with cuts that were mainly composed of rectangles and triangles in order to use as little fabric as possible.
In Skjoldehamn, Birka and Haithabu fragments have been found where the pattern of this cut are evident. The dress is therefore an authentic garment for all Vikings.
